Has anyone ever heard this, a long time crappie fisherman told me this the other day. I have never heard this before, b.s. or truth?

B.S.? maybe, maybe not, depends on weather you're catching fish or not, it's all a matter of opinion and catching luck at the time.

I doubt it. You can see on livescope sometimes they are just skittish and scared from everything. A tiny jig will spook them. A little splash on the water they scatter, etc... Wouldn't think eyes would matter.

Superdave, I think this is much truer than eye size.

Never heard of that one in all my years of fishing. I’ve seen fish shy away from painted heads even if they don’t have eyes painted on them tho.

Shad the size that crappie can eat have a pretty good size black dot on them. Seen crappie stuffed full

Big eyes ain’t likely a real concern , think profile and speed of the presentation, much more play in them 2 items .
Color is typically the last straw , right before a fancy eyed minnow head ….just saying
