Default Braid verses mono for livescoping crappie

What are you fellows using for livescoping, I use mono, but yesterday I tried braid and it really helped me to feel the light bites, I was catching a lot more crappie than I usually catch. Could feel them better. But now what I was trying was 20 pound braid, what pound test are y’all using and line diameter.

You can see braid on livescope too. I’ve tried braid but I keep returning to mono. Just what I prefer

superdave I am hear to tell you it really changed my style of fishing it made my bait really slow down and kept the bait in front of the crappie nose longer, got lots more bits than I normally get. I usually fish with 4 rods all setup a little different I am gonna buy another spool of braid but I want other’s opinion about what pound test to buy.

Braid gives you a fraction of a second more advance time to feel /see the bite and react. Braid is sometimes easier to see on LS too, but not always. Jig or split shot usually shows up equal on both.

I currently have 10# & 15# braid (with dia equivalent to 2# & 4# mono) rigged on two of my rods. I think it helps when crappie are lightly hitting the bait.

I use braid when fishing deeper than 5ft and when fishing heavy cover (so I can get my jig back). The deeper you fish the more braid shines for bite detection. I use 10lb braid on my spinning reels.

For years used braid hi-vis for everything, casting, flipping, dipping and livescoping. Recently went to mono and I feel like I get way more bites. Even tested it side by side. Haven’t had and floro I been happy with yet on a spinning reel, to much line twist.

Braid has also been very frustrating livescoping the way we rig. Jig on bottom with two heavy weights above to get down to fish fast. Reason it tangles like crazy and no hope of it coming out just get out the scissors.

With all that said I do use heavy mono and can most of the time see it on the screen. Big Game Trilene 15 lb test and can normally rip it off snags and straighten the hook just like braid.

Sorry if this post was too long!

Braid is great if you are confused about what is a bite and what isn’t
You get your jig back after you run off all the fish as well
And it tangles like spider webs for no apparent reason all the time
And cuts fingers like a knife too …
The good news is while you fight them braid issues , me be ketchn
AND some of the lighter braids break off easier than 6 lb mono …
As far as easier to see , remember this , solid is solid and diameter gives line visibility, not what it’s made of , sonar reflects off surfaces no matter the materials it’s made of , lead ain’t better than steel , plastic isn’t better than wood and neither is braid versus mono …
    No matter who says otherwise….
    Carry on …
