I've ran the gambit and fluoro is where it's at for me.

The biggest drawback for me with braid was tip tangles on my long rods.

It definitely does.. with 8 I can almost always straighten the hook and rebend it out of a brush pile. Honestly, probably my preferred line. Still catch a lot of fish and have even caught big striper!

Some folks say straight braid wont matter, and a lot of times it doesn't but I've done side by side comparisons on finicky, hot, clear water black crappie and there are absolutely times where it matters.

6 lbFire Line crystal lately with a short fluoro or mono leader to keep lure tangle down on casting rods, 6-10 braid on all the line counter crank rods. Was long line cranking last weekend 100-120 feet and can feel the slightest little piece of weed messing with the lures action...a couple of hard rod snaps will clear it 85% of the time.

For old guys like me comparing mono to braid is like comparing a carburetor to EFI..lol

For casting I still like 6lb. mono. For fishing timber with a 15 ft pole I like 12 lb mono.

Most of my fishing is over brushpiles 16 to 20 ft. I have settled on Sufix 832 braid 20 lb test, with a 2 ft leader of mono. I use a bead and swivel to
keep the grandkids from reeling the fish all the way to the tip . The bead/swivel shows up on live scope well, One of my presentations is
to put the jig down in the pile , with only the bead/swivel showing above the pile.
    your mileage may vary

way to go Ryan, just shows you don’t have to have the expensive equipment to catch fish, time on the water means everything.

Good for you but when they get efficient with the LS hold on to your hat.

I was a 15 lb his-vis braid guy with a 1/8 oz jig as diehard as you can be until I seen with my own eyes (looking) at the livescope what can actually be done!

keefer fish I am right there with you with livescope, I am still learning but I can go and catch a mess of fish with it. You know all don’t believe or can afford it, so I give that young man without it a thumbs up.
