    Default QUESTIONS ABOUT SPIDER RIGGING

I enjoyed the spider rigging article by Slab.
    1. does spider rigging work on all bodies of water?
I've been told it doesn't work everywhere.
    2. I've had success with live minnows in the past but will jigs work just as well or not?

My answer to question #1 : Prior to Livescope, most tournaments were probably won Spider Rigging (ask Capps & Coleman).

My answer to question #2 : I'm thinking jigs alone, in a Spider Rig setup and at Spider Rigging speed, could work .... but, I'm doubtful it would produce equally or better than with live offerings.

My answers are not based on "my" experiences, as I don't Spider Rig. My answers are based on information gleaned from this site & from experiences of a couple of friends of mine that are/were diehard Spider Riggers.

I spider rig on the Mississippi River. Hooks with a minnow and jigs both work but I would say hook and minnow outperforms the jigs by quite a bit. I make my own rigs that are similar to an old school capps n coleman style but with some variations.

I have spider rigged for over 20 years. I now fish a 2 hook rig with minnow on top and jig on the bottom. I give them a choice. What they want can change from day to day and even change every hour you are out there. It can be done from shallow to deep and everywhere in between. The worst thing is too much wind or current. Good luck. Name: image (4).jpg

Yep. I was afraid that live bait might have the edge.
    Thanks everyone.
