I got hot just reading this! You can fer sur rip em with orange!
Some 10 years or so ago , The Mighty Trinity river was one of my favorite bank angling spots , several forks of it have deeper waters under the many bridges and sometimes if you are dialed up just so you can whip a few crappie into shape .
The west fork and the clear fork are the 2 I focus on due to the proximity to my job and I mostly hit them on my lunch breaks .
Many moons ago the spot closest to me was a great location to hammer and a fella known as SK to some would come by after 5 in the fall and we would really hurt some dandy big white crappie right at dark and after too ...
Fast forward to recent visits here and there , the crappie at most of these spots now all seem to run on the small side and where there were lots of big whites , now there are mostly small blacks and lots of darn bass in the mix .
A Flood years ago ruined it for some unknown reasons , likely a mix of channel changes and depths not the same and cover being moved as well .
Anyway ,since its close and it was STUPID hot outside, I went down the slope and pitched at em a bit yesterday.
Missed lots of them due to my lack of being tuned up on the river bites and lost one too, but it the end a few came to hand and after just a short visit the heat was just too much to take EVEN in the shade ....
One thing for certain though, it was nice to rip a few at long range under a float way out there like we used to do back in the day , pretty much the ultimate crappie challenge is that stuff, it if flat out tricky as heck to ketch crappie on just jigs in the river for sure when it's 108 outside .....
KABOOM is near ...
p.s. depth and water temps. unknown , 1/32 white jighead and an Orange and yellow plastic , negative bites and slow take downs were in the mix

What's your jig head made of? It looks huge for a 1/32 so curious of the material. Maybe you're long arming your jig head?
Good job. Short hot trip but you still KABOOM. Not sure if SK gets away from Lake Houston much anymore. He is staying busy there.
