My doctor required me to wear full length compression stockings. This reduced the possibility of blood clots in legs during recovery.
I only had one knee replaced, but had to wear the compression stockings on both legs.
The hospital put one pair on me after surgery. We bought 2 more pairs after I was released. I recommend having at least 2 pairs. They can get runs after a while.
They can be difficult to put on. One tip to make it easier to get them on is to put a plastic bag on your foot before trying to slide the compression sock over your foot.
After the sock is over the foot the plastic bag can be pulled off through the opening in the toe of the compression stocking.
My wife helped me get the stockings on. Without her help I don't think I could have gotten it onto the leg with the new knee.

I had to wear compression socks after both knees and both hips. The last time my doctor recommended zip up compression socks. My wife thanked him. Huge difference and they worked great. Best $16 we spent. Link is the ones we bought. $16 for two pair.

These are on Amazon. The middle one is what I have. Even after my recovery, I’ve left it on the bed. It helps when I have to put socks on.

Well that part I already have covered. Due to excessive water retention My primary Dr has me on a blood pressure/water pill and support socks to keep my feet from swellin' like balloons, I call them knee high's from h***...I get 3 prs every 6 months from VA, but if I am not carefull, I put my fingers through them...Being an ex-military cook, I still don't have any nails pat the quick of the nails...they are the 20-30 mmhg closed toe knee high medical support hose. I'll look into those zip up ones Hanr3. Those would be great...Thanks for the info.

Grumpa, I hope you have a great fishin' trip and I'll be prayin' your procedure goes well.

I looked up on-line about those pre and post op exercises. already started on some of them. I think there's 10 in all they were showing, or that's what I seen anyway. They were saying to concentrate on the quads, and do the exercises at least 3 times a day, 10 reps each...Been doing them, and going through youtube videos on replacing the transom, flotation foam, and lower deck in in my boat. Been raining pretty good here for the past 4-5 days, so no wall panel replacing, cant get outside with 'em to cut. Hoping to get the boat started after knee surgery and I'm healed up. Just have to see...
