Glad you are getting some traction. Got my right knee done in 2020 and only had to wait 2 months to have the replacement. Best decision my care team and I made.
Jeez, the VA is just the pits. This should have been resolved a while ago! Best wishes!

Well, Day 1 with no smokes and no ones dead, so I recon That's a good thing. Been pretty busy. Our baby fur baby got fixed so that started the day. Got momma to get her new glasses only to find out the perscription isn't right, so back to her eye Dr Thurs...Went by the bank to get a couple copies and Notorizations done, off to the Post Office, Back to the Vet's office to pick up The baby, and Home. Which has been fun, as the middle fur baby is constantly wanting to check on the baby. Unfortunately she thinks stepping on the little one helps her get up...Wrong...But I'm good, I think...29 more smokeless days till Dr will do surgery.

I don't know if your Dr's told you this, but after the replacement, if you cut yourself or get a scratch, put something on it so it doesn't get infected! If you get an infection, it goes to the artificial joint and when that happens they have to remove the joint to clear up the infection! When they went to replace my first fake knee that I wore out, they found a staph infection in my lower leg encapsulated and removed my right knee for 7 weeks! I had to do IV antibiotics 3x's a day for 6 weeks and when they were sure that the infection was gone they put my new knee in! Just so you know, only having 1 knee and 2 legs is ROUGH!!!! Especially if you're Fat like me! The worst part was I knew this could happen and was VERY careful about cuts and scratches!
As of This point, No, your the first to menchtion it. Definately something to keep in mind. Thank you for the info.

I’ve had both knees replaced along with both hips and shoulders.
Get your house ready before your surgery. You’ll need a walker, cane, raised potty chair that goes over a commode, recliner to sleep in for a while, and IMHO the most important is a rail that fits beside your bed. It fits between the mattress and springs. You can thank me later.
I was extremely grateful for an amazing Orthopedic Surgeon who has a great record for a lack of post surgery infections. I had home health come in to show me exercises that helped immensely. They also changed my bandages a couple times a week. I had zero post-surgery issues.
Once I was cleared to start PT, I worked my butt off doing what they recommended. I still have some skin numbness that will probably always be there. I have not regretted having any of my joint replacements. They have made my life better and that should be one’s main reason for having them done.

MR Dux has some great advice.
I have had both knees and both hips replaced. I HIGHLY recommend the Ice Machine. We filled mine with frozen water bottles, add water and cover the knee. It keeps teh swelling down. Do the pain meds. Don't be fooled the first three days after surgery. You will have a 72 hour pain blocker and won't feel pain. Once that blocker wears off, the pain will come with a vengeance. Use the MEDS!!!I slept in my recliner for the first couple weeks. Getting in and out of bed was a no go and not worth the pain.
Drink a ton of water. It forces you to get up and go pee, which you need that movement for recovery. Do the heel pumps all the time. I made it a goal to do the pumps during every commercial.
Last piece of advice, do the exercises before and after the surgery. Normal recovery is 12 weeks. I was back to work in 3 weeks. Been told I am abnormal.
You will have pain. It wil hurt to move, take it in small increments, recover, repeat.
You go this and thanks for your service. VA covered my costs, I went thru a private othro group. My wife worked for them as a surgery scheduler.
