Default Anyone Night Fish for crappie?

Took the kids night fishing as an end of summer treat, as they go back to school this week.

Turned on the lights and the bait came in, and the crappie followed. They didn't want jigs, so we threw a cast net and got some of the shad and herring. Put them on a hook and it was game on. Nice, big crappie, and a couple of catfish, too. A great way to end the summer, with a fish fry:

used to do it sometimes , not much these days , but it can be really productive if you don't mine the bugs in this part of the world , they will swarm ya hard and make it less fun in some spots for sure ,,,
congrats and KABOOM on your night prowling ...

Certainly a nice mess for a fish fry. Never fished specifically for crappie at night but have caught them at night fishing for bass and the ones I did catch were big ones.

Good job and memories I'm sure the kids won't soon forget. Good job.

In the summer months night fishing is the best way to go. Nice catch.

do you need a special net or will a regular one snag them?

Good job. Used to night fish. For several years I could count the number of times I was on the lake in day time (other than setting up to night fish before dark) on one hand. Had it down to an art thanks to gone but not forgotten SC forum member Rango.
