If your klutzy like me, get the cheapo ones at flea markets or tag sales. That way its no big deal when you lose them I keep a set on a leash attached to something on my kayak. Ive dropped them several times, and was able to retrieve them.
If vegetable oil is made from vegetables, what's baby oil made from?

I have some good ones like pictured above. They usually stay in the bag. I have cheap ones everywhere on the boat. I lose so many that a magnet guy could make a living following me. I didn't buy those nice ones they were mostly gifts from the kids.

I have some cheap ones I purchased from Harbor Freight. If I remember correctly they cost $1.99 and purchased 4 pair. I always keep a pair in the boat along with some hemostats.
I lost some Rapala stainless pliers on a lanyard off my kayak last week. Had them for 5 years & never unhooked them off my PFD...until last week. The one time I let somebody else use them, I forgot to reconnect to my PFD and watched them slide off the deck of my kayak over 27 feet of water. Haven't replaced them yet, but I have a set of long hemostats that will work just fine for now.

Yeah. That is why I want them with a lanyard and sheath. I want all the help I can get hanging on to them.

Add a magnet to the canoe's gunnel or thwart, like for holding tools. Cheap pliers and hemostats, they even stay on while riding in the back of the pickup.

Interesting. That is one solution I hadn't thought of. It might work nicely as a combination solution. Have some sort of a tether for most of the time and a magnet for times when the pliers might need to be off tether.
