    Default The Request

Got a call Saturday , he sked me if we were coming to ketch fish at his lake . Seems like he wants company and his family is a bit too busy to hang around with him maybe ?
Went on to say he hasn't ate a fish out of his lake in forever. We of course were in the middle of Saturday chores and I opted for can't do it today sir, BUT .....
We will come out tomorrow and ketch a bunch and filet them for you if you would like that ....
He said sure and call me before you get there to see if I am in town and maybe we could fish together.
So off we went to our country place with the intention of dropping by his place on the way back to home plate. Landed at his place after lunch ( the bite is best in the shade under his dock midday ).We started dropping jigs and it got frisky QUICK , lots of small fish with a few eaters in the mix and my wife ,daughter and myself began to show some crappie why it might be a bad day to bite a jig ...
We hammered em good for a while and the ice chest started to fill up nicely and then we stopped and took a break and started in with a BRAND new fish scaler and a filet knife on his cleaning table.
That fish scaler was the BOMB and I told my wife since most of the fish were in the 10 inch range and the skin is very thin on small fish, this will go quickly if you scale them and I filet them .
About 50 filets later we were done and to be sure it was FUN !
The owner showed up and turned on his popcorn machine and we all sat around in the ac and ate popcorn after we bagged him up 3 bags of filets and of course I just love to stare at all his mounts all over the walls in his pavilion too
Mind you this about that , some would think it might be some work to give cleaned fish away and it was about 30 minutes worth of busy , but to be sure the reward of doing that for him and the smile on his face made it worth it for sure ....
once again this is my story and I am stickin it to em ....AND my crew too ....
    KABOOM is the word
p.s. the particulars ...little ketchn karrot was deadly and got beat up , wife and I used one and the daughter used something else in orange as well , 5 to 6 fow a water about 4 foot down and the bites were soft , the women used a float and I just pitched mine.
