Default First Trip and Pull with Sharp Shooter 6 *snap*

Several months ago I decided to give dock shooting a try due to my lack of success on a local lake. After trying several rods that I had and losing the one I liked to the lake, I decided to buy the Sharp Shooter 6. Tried it a few times in the yard and it did perform better than the rods I tried. Finally decided to give it a try today and it snapped in 2 spots on the first attempt. The rod has been stored horizontally from a rod rack, so maybe supporting its own weight weakened it. With limited use, in the yard and 1 boat trip, I can’t imagine where it could have gotten damaged.

So far my odds of catching on a dock shooter have been better in the yard. Lol

I’d be having a conversation with someone about that. Just fyi, I keep my drag a little loose so that when the rod is loaded up hard the drag begins to slip. It’s done well for me so far. I’ve had three Berkley cherrywood rods and snapped all three shooting with them just like I do with all my others. It happens.

I would for sure be calling BnM. Shame it happened to you.

That is a pretty thick section of rod to have snapped from loading to shoot docks. Pretty hard to generate the pressure needed to snap it by holding a jig head between 2 fingers. My guess is a weak spot

likely had a nick in it or something like that , these newer really thin walled rod blanks dont like nicks very much

Like Buckeye said I’d contact BnM and see what they say. Sharpshooter Six is one of my favorite rods. Let us know how it works out for you.

Crazy thing is it snapped in two sections. I didn’t notice that until I got home. I sent BnM an email late yesterday to see if it’s covered under warranty.
Starting to think the fish are on to me and are sabotaging my dock shooting setups while I’m staring at livescope.

BnM customer service is great. I won a TCB rod here in a contest. First time out while cating up under a bridge I was fishing from the tip just barely touched the bridge...Pink went the rod about 6" from the tip. Chnged rods, and continued fishing for a couple more hours. I called them, BnM, explained everything, even that I had won the rod on Crappie.Com, and needed to order a new tip section. Low and behold, They sent me a new tip section and never charged me nothing. Now that's customer service.
