Long rods stayed broke down & in rod wraps while at home & in the boat's rod locker. They only got put together when they were to be used. They spend most of their time in racks, here at the apt.
Leave several in the boat all the time. It is stored in garage setting on go!

I've got about 100 rod/reel setups and I keep them in 4 plastic trashcans. Not ideal but I have yet to find a effective way to store them all.
Haven’t damaged a rod since starting this almost twenty years ago.

I thought this was pretty clever. One of CdC's own posters, too.

i keep short rods (under 8') in the rod locker and what doesn't fit in there goes to the basement. My long rods (over 8') get broke down, rod socked, and stored next to the boat in the garage. I can't travel with my long rods assembled, too long for the boat. One of these days I want to add a rod rack in the garage ceiling. My garage ceiling is 10' tall and the only way I'm reaching them is while in teh boat. Which is perfect. I prep the boat for each trip out. Pleasure boating I keep just a few basic set-ups in-case the grandkids want to fish. Fishing trips, I swap rods in/out based on the fishing method and number of people. Having them all stored above the boat would save me multiple trips up/down the basement steps. Rod rack is on the list of garage mods. First i have to finish remodeling teh basement. i only have the office/bathroom to finish. Then 1300square foot of floor covering for th whole basement floor.
