Was the wind directions and to be sure North won on velocity ....
not sure where it came from but to be sure it turned a nice outing into a beat down .
It was nicely white capping really quickly when it came to visit us and after just a bit , my mouth said this .....
They are likely biting best on the shore line where the waves are crashing into it, BUT I dont care ! this is a BEAT DOWN , lets go find some shelter from it and who cares if the fish ain't biting over there in that cove !
Of course it was a highly variable situation and the wind had other plans and so we just rolled to and fro and ketched fish where we could actually tell we were getting bites !
We pitched this and that and ketched fish here and there , the pattern was bit all over the map though and to be very sure , no stops were the silver bullet ! Left when the box was full and to be sure it was really nice when we started the trip and really rough when we quit.
changed baits frequently and none of them seemed to be the silver bullet either , some drum ,bass, warmouth , catfish and bluegill got in on the action as well .
87 degree water and some light rain got involved and some burning sunshine TOO !
Quite a mix of emotions for a short trip no doubt .....half the fish were donated to the less fortunate and the captain kept the other half ....
most fish bit close to the bottom and we hit waters from 5 foot deep to 22 foot deep , the thermocline seemed to be gone for the most part in there for whatever reason and the stops were laydowns , condos ,rocks and drop offs ....
busy trip no doubt ,good times ...
KABOOM is the word ....
p.s. note the little white "glider bait" , pretty cool slow fall puppy ...no clue who makes it and think it came from Walmart ...and btw .....not a short crappie one visited us ...go figure

Nice batch of crappie. I believe the glide bait is called a puddle jumper and is made somewhere here in Missouri. Been around a long time, used them a lot before I started making my own crappie baits.

yeah someone on another social media platform said they been using them since they was a kid , think I seen them before but when you age your memory aint what it used to be for sure ....
they really fall slowly and nicely on a 1/24 pillhead , thats a fact
