    Default Umbrella for my boat

Wanting to know how many people out there has a umbrella for the front of their boat, is it worth the money to spend to get shade to fish when it’s hot. Maybe a picture or two on how it was rigged, what kind of patio umbrella did you use, and what diameter do I need. Thanks in advance.

would not go with out my "Shadetree " from millinum . I already had a 9 ft umbrella from Academy sports called a sports prella . Millinum now makes a umbrella to go on their deal . goes around the seat post ,very sturdy . Easy on/off .

Danny, I used 14' rods with this setup :

But, if I were to need to do it now, I'd probably get the Millennium umbrella holder ($50 @ Cabela's) I still have the umbrella (bought it from Home Depot for about $25)

crappiePappy can you livescope with the umbrella, pitching or throwing jigs, I see those rods are in holders. Is the worth the time and money to put a umbrella on a boat, did you use it enough.

I use the millennium shadetree and livescope with long rods with no problems. Whichever umbrella you get make sure it has tilt adjustments toward top and 90 percent of the time you can position it so you have shade and no interference

I used it this way for a couple of years, but that was back when I was doing more jig Pushing & casting (ie: pre-LS). But, even now when I'm using LS I don't overhead cast my jigs ... I "flip" them (more or less underhand).
I haven't really fished much in the hot months (July/Aug) in the last few years, so I really can't say for sure that an umbrella setup (of any kind) wouldn't pose a bit of a problem.

And yes, those rods are in holders ... but two of them are 14' (the other two are 10' & 7' rods). When I flip jigs w/LS now, I'm using a 12' rod.

I have a Millennium that my wife got us. It works great but sometimes gets in the way. The shade is worth the minimal bother.

I like the DIY with PVC, but was thinking of trying it with ABS. Might be a little more forgiving in gusts of wind, while still being rigid and strong.
Pass the "Sportsman Baton" on before you're gone, promote values for others to hunt and fish upon.
