    Default Gills saved a skunk

Trying to beat the heat and waje boats today. Hit a few new spots to no avail. Just as I was heading out of one of my favorite spots a couple gills stopped in to say hi. Chased the skunk away at least. Nothing but sun, heat and riding wakes the rest of the day. Name: 71051823513__A73E93E7-8BC8-4976-A50A-5ADD8412F5A7.jpg

I went Friday, and a catfish saved me from getting skunked as well. It was big enough to fillet, so I kept it.

I had another new experience on this trip also. I am sure others have had this happen but to me it was new. Just after catching the gills I hook into something that felt a lot bigger. Trying to play it cool and not horsing it in I let it run a bit. Feeling it tig on my light gear was a fun thing in itself. Well, it was working its way to the boat when suddenly the line stopped vibrating and moving. It was still tight, so I was a bit perplexed as to the situation now unfolding. I first thought a big cat had just decided to stop and lay down on the bottom. I ended up breaking the line. After thinking on this I may have hooked a bass that wrapped the line around one of the many deadfalls in that particular. Was fun while it lasted.

I will take a gill over a skunk any day. Glad you got to go fishing.
