    Default I am ready

I am ready for this holiday to go by, so I can get back out to fishing. You know fishing almost everyday ( and not showing all my fish here, they are reasons). But sitting home the past 3-4 days catching up on some of my choirs, just makes me wanna go fishing even more. Gotta few different ways I want to try to fish that’s killing me not being able to try, getting tired of livescope for a while. Gonna try old ways that I use to catch ‘em. Just saying it probably won’t be long and I will start back livescoping again.

It will be over tomorrow and here soon enough. I’m enjoying my time off from work. Tomorrow it’s back to the grind. Probably be rough fishing this whole week unless you go early and beat the crowd. Good luck

It’s a good time to restock and reorganize your gear.

The party boats and jet skis will have the water well oxygenated for sure. Make the fish fight harder

"I am ready"- allow me to extend this thought to time at the boat ramp.
In relation to coming and going - I believe some people arrive at the boat ramp like they are waking up in a whole new world.
I like having a routine that is efficient, effective, and courteous. Focused and not distracted. Planned.
Folks, it can be done. Phase one starts before you leave the house, and ends as you leave your wake at the boat ramp. Phase two begins before you arrive back at the launch and ends back at the house. Orderly, timely, safe, and courteous. Efficient, thoughtful, and effective.
I admit, I am a planner. "Plan your work, and work your plan".
Let's all take a dose of that to the boat ramp with us. Maybe it will catch on.
    "I am ready".

I have seen some doozies at the boat ramp, to me seems like this is everyone’s first time at the landing. I have a plan also, been distracted a few times one time left my plug out.

    Aint that the truth.
My drain plug comes out when I pull the boat out of the water as I am connecting rear straps and setting the transom saver.
Next time I pull the boat out of the garage to go to the water, I put the drain plug in right there at the house and do my pre op checks.
At the launch, I ALWAYS double check the drain plug; somethings are worth checking TWICE!
Ya know, once you get your routine down, one we must stay on guard for is - DISTRACTIONS. For the most part, most folks are courteous, and we should be in return. Pause your routine if you need, but complete them and try not to leave out anything. Not only can it be frustrating later (How did I forget...?) but it can also become a safety concern!
Oh, and another thing I do is quickly feel the hubs for heat, making sure I don't have a bearing going bad. Only takes a couple of seconds, I do this before launch, when I stop for gas, and at home as I park it in the garage. It's a very quick check, done as I walk by them doing other stuff as well. We can look at this as "Continuing Improvement" in a timely manner as we press on to not delay other anglers and get to the fish!

All good ideas and systems so far, I like em. I’m the easiest guy at the ramp. Being as my schedule has been dumb for years, I’ve fished alone a lot. This meant launching and recovering the same way. Batteries stay charged, always ready for a quick, short trip. Plug hardly gets taken out of this boat but the routine is to check when you connect. If your fuel was low atthe end of the last trip, then gas up on the way home or in my case just pick up another 3 gallons of 100% asap. Small motors have their advantages. One that is really strong in my way of doing things is borrowing. All of your boat gear doesn’t get borrowed for other purposes and therefore is never forgotten to be returned. Rigged and ready and not the did I forget something game. We have enough to remember like ice and food and protection and setting the alarm for different times than usual. Taking things off of the remember list makes the pre checks go so much quicker and organized.

And about distractions, if you get distracted, go back to the beginning. There just is no better way of insuring that nothing slips thru the cracks. I have to do it myself and no one is any different.

    Default I am ready

My OCD causes me to have a routine!!
I fish alone about 99% since Covid and prefer do do so now.
When someone is with me they always ask what they can do. My response is…nothing….I have a routine…
I start at the front of the boat and work myself around the entire boat.
    Same every time.
Rope hooked up to bow for launching and everything ready before pulling to the ramp.
Really aggravating when boaters do everything sitting on the ramp but I just overlook them.
    Big reason I fish weekdays.

The plug gets screwed in when I unhook the battery charger.
