Livescope would show you but , I would use with out spinner. Crappie not too picky with right presentation. Seen them bite some strange things. Caught Crappie on bare unpainted jig heads and banana peel.
Having had some luck a few years ago with jigging a Beetle Spin for Bass I wonder if Jigging a Beetle Spin for Suspended crappy wouldn't work well also. Are any members using Beetle spins purposely for jigging or do you find that overkill.
Best!

IMHO .... if you're going to use a Beetle Spin, you'd be best off casting it out and slowly reeling it back in.
But, if by "jigging" you mean lifting it up and letting it fall back ... that may work, if you can keep the line from tangling in the hardware or spinner.
Now I can't say as I've ever seen anyone "jigging" a Beetle Spin, but I have seen a person jigging a marabou Road Runner and catching Crappie .... so I'm not gonna say it wouldn't work, just that jigging a simple hair jig or jig/plastic body would probably amount to the same catch rate (while not presenting the entanglement problem as often).
road runner trumps beetle spin if you want blades on your bait for crappie ,,,,,,fact

If I was going to use beetle spin it would be for casting. For jigging I’d rather have a underspin like the Road Runner.
I had some luck doing it this past winter on a power plant lake.
I’ve been a huge Beetle Spin fan most of my life… until I started Crappie fishing and discovered how much better a Road Runner works - for everything that swims, it seems! I’ve tried again a few times with both, and the Road Runner keeps smoking the Beetle Spin on catch rates.
All the best,

But……..
Pitching a beetle spin into lilies and such is some better IMHO. The overall design I think is more weedless. I throw a beetle spin in places that get a raised eyebrow from the others in the boat and with a little steering and maybe snatching it out a touch early, I usually get it back.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
I use Beetle Spins for casting.
