    Default 4lb braid choices

are there any 4lb braid lines out there that are reasonable. i have been using Berkley Nanofil, that is expensive stuff, plus now Berkley has discontinued it, looking for a more reasonable alternative

Have you looked at Sufix Nanobraid? They have it in 4lb.

Also, Varivas (Crappie.com sponsor) has a high quality 5lb braid. Avani Light Game I think....

I haven't tried either of those as I seldom fish with braid. I'm a line watcher and high vis yellow mono is my favorite. Several years ago I tried Sufix 832 braid for bass fishing. I liked it alot, but it only goes down to 6 lb test so I didn't mention that because you wanted 4lb. Order the things you're interested in through Amazon and send back what doesn't fit your personal feel. Returns are free.

I’m guessing that you want to stay in the domestic offerings. I’ve used Sufix Nanobraid in two pound and it’s tougher than you would think and casts real nice. I’ve caught 5 lb cats and LMB up to 3 1/2lbs. The smaller diameter the better the casting. Tough stuff too. Not nearly as easy to break like the Nanofil was. I’ve taken that off of all my reels that had it. I firmly believe that if you try a spool of it, you’ll like it more than you ever thought you would.

I’m using a lot of Varivas braid, also tougher than I thought it would be. I have about 5 different kinds up to 8 lbs and have nothing bad to say about it. The 4 lb master super premium PE in .15 diameter is rated 4 lbs and has helped me wrestle some big tilapia without breaking. It’s pricey but lasts a couple of years or more if kept out of direct sun while it’s stored. With any of the small braids I use a leader for abrasion resistance and ease of retying. Hope you find what you need, holler if I can help.

Nothing casts like the Nanofil but anything is tougher. Just broke too many times for me.

I use 5lb PP in Hi Viz yellow, 2lb neon green Amazon braid, and good ole 3lb Fireline Crystal.

I don’t see how y’all handle that tiny braid.
I’d have so many knots and be saying words that would embarrass a sailor.
