I saw where an experienced guy said that if crappie won't follow your jig- change size. If they follow but won't commit- change color.

thanks happycaster, I changed colors about 20 times, different profiles, went from plastics to feather jigs but still only chased, but one things for sure, I didn’t put on the right color or profile. Did not try scents, or downsize. But you can bet next time I will cover it all, even the dreaded minnows if I have to.

Nice catch in spite of the weather. Looks like you tried everything that I would suggest (size, color, scent, presentation, etc). Some days and/or times during the day they do not want to bite IMHO.
Yes, as a matter of fact, I do have a retirement plan...FISHING!

retired2Fish I guess I just picked out the day that they don’t want to bite, heck it seems like everyday I pick they don’t wanna bite. Looks like it me, instead of the fish, just saying…

Unfortunately, I pick a lot of the same days. I was told early in my fishing days that if you got a jig or minnow in front of a crappie, they would bite it. However, (as you have described) LS has shown us that is not true. But it is exciting to see them come up and thump the bait when the are in biting mood.

Retired2Fish I agree with you it’s exciting to see them bite and feel the thump, that’s what keeps us fellows going.

Danny, I’ve only looked at livescope once in Slabs boat, so I’m no expert. When I think fish are there, or they’ve quit biting, color and size are what I change. When I dip bridge columns I start with a 1/16 and a Bobby Garland baby Shad. That usually works for a while but then they shut down, I change to a small jig, sometimes less than a 1/32 and continue to catch fish. They sometimes keep biting for most of the day. It wears on my patience because it takes forever for the small ones to fall.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
