He knows the answers to all these issues. He's just testing the masses to see if anyone's as smart as him!

Ahh, I was waiting for someone to say that! Yep, I do that too, gets hot as heck here by noon though. Only way to survive sometimes is being able to walk in and out of the A/C! lol Hmmm, hey Canepole, you got any idears for a boat A/C.

Florida is cool though, soon as the hurry cane season starts (and even sometimes right now) the afternoon rains come through and cool things down. During the regular hurry cane season it's like clockwork, every afternoon you get a cooling rain, sometimes big'uns.

Atimm693 mentioned that once charged these old systems volts increase, so maybe that explains why it's good 14 sometimes and 17 other times.

Tanks all, I'll report back once I get one installed.
This is what I would do. if you can find max output current, build around that info.

I have read that guys have used the larger ATV/motorcycle style regulators on these and they work well. Whether or not they will fit under the cowl, I'm not sure.

I got the jungle company bringing me this one today. We'll see what it can do.

    Amazon.com
    Commercial navigation Replacement for Regulator Rectifier Voltage Mercury Mariner Outboard 5 Wires 25 to 250 HP Replace 815279-1 815279-2 815279-3 815279-4 815279-5 65W-81960-00-00 65W-81960-10-00

And there's bunches of room under the cowl. I hope one can fit there somewhere. That's where I store my lunch sometimes to keep it warm! lol

    Bingo. I'm a winner.

Yep, thanks to you all I am no longer boiling my battery, and in turn my electronics. 14 volts all day long baby. Gotta love it.

I put one of these thingies in the place of the rectifier.

Gotta love next day jungle company deliveries.

I only had 4 wires, so I just let the gray one dangling. Think thats for the tach anywho, who knows.

So now are you going fishing or do you have more tinkering?

Who me, I'm always tinkerin' and fishin' too. Always something. Gotta run a new video line from the boat house to the inside TV so I can watch the fish when I'm not fishing. And bunches more. But here's a fish from the last outing, got it livescoping. Not really good at it, but I'm trying.

Could not find the fish pic when it had it's outsides on, but here's the quick lunch I made with it. I actually caught 5, but only wanted one for much.
