    Default Watch and learn

I was sitting on one of my gps marks here on my lake this morning and a fellow pulled up on a spot close to me, and I saw him fish there for about 20 minutes and nothing, he was pitching jigs, as soon as he left I saw another boat pull up on the same exact spot with minnows and a cork and just started pulling them in, both of these guys were using livescope. I have never used minnows while livescoping, but maybe I need to try it. I did not have any problems catching them critters with jigs, but wondering if minnows would catch more. Any suggestions?

If you’re catching them with jigs I wouldn’t mess with minnows.

Even if I’m not catching them with jigs I’m not using minnows….

I gotta try it, it seems better for me for the price I am paying for gas for the trip to at least try to put more fish in the boat, and maybe learn something new, what I saw today makes me a believer.

In my experience , there are days minnows will out fish jigs and vice versa. But I almost never use minnows, If some one brings minnows on a trip with
me , I will usually cut the dead ones and tip my jig with them.

    good luck

I only have one lake I take minnows too no matter what. Something about that lake you might come home empty handed if you don’t have minnows. All other places don’t take them. If I have kids in the boat I’ll take minnows too.

I just did another article with a writer using shiners. I told the writer I would put 4-5 Crappie in the boat to his 1, Jigs to Shiners. Well I got to eat a Big Ole Slice of HUMBLE PIE! I got Smoked! Mo is on the money. If they want minnows you feed them minnows or go home with a light cooler. Doesn't happen everyday but it happens.

thanks rojoguio, that’s exactly what happened yesterday on the lake, seen it with both of my perk-a-boos, I know most all and myself relay on jigs for livescope, but never tried minnows for livescope, so it can be another tool if you let it be. Thanks for wording it better than I ever could. This was my meaning all along.

In clear water- minnows. Stained water- jigs. Having both on hand increases your odds.
