I find the sensitivity of braid to be very helpful. A lot of times if you are able feel a limb without pulling hard on the line, you can drop it back down and pull it through successfully without getting hung up. Saves a lot of jigs.
I use a mono leader, about two rod lengths long, just because braid is a pain to tie with, but you don't really need to.

My system works for me , I use 20 lb suffix 832, a bead , a swivel and a mono leader about 3 ft long, loop knot.
Lots of reasons for my madness
The bead keeps the grandkids from reeling the fish all the way to the rodtip. It also make a visual aid to know when to swing the fish into the boat.
The braid lasts for years , I don't have to respool constantly
The swivel cuts down on line twist, and I can tie the leader to the swivel faster than I can tie leader to braid,
the loop knot lets the jig hang horizontal, I used to use a palomar , but got tired of constantly adjusting the knot.
When I get hung up , the mono breaks easier that the braid , so re rigging is faster.
When I used straight mono i could not " feel " my jig deeper than about 10 ft. I love the sensitivity of the braid,
your mileage may vary , but this works for me
good luck

if fishing straight down either on brush or night fishing braid all the way to the jig
if holding your rod, you will detect more bites with braid in my experience
