Default New clippers / line nippers

I have braid scissors for my braided lines, but like using nail clippers for mono / fluoro.

I had a nice pair of clippers - kinda big, but they had a hook eye cleaner tool attached, so I liked them. Well... turned out they didn't last long. Was trying to clip some line two trips ago, and they just popped apart in my hands - the top part going overboard, making them useless. Guess they weren't as quality as I thought, as I've never had a pair of clippers do that.

Got home and wanted to figure out some way to not lose another pair. Attaching a float to a normal pair of nail clippers turned out to be useless - they were heavier than I thought, and the float required had to be way too big. Didn't want to order a cork float, mainly because of the size / weight.

Fixed the issue with tiny set of Desitin brand baby nail clippers. The small size is perfect for nipping line on little light jigs, and an inexpensive, lightweight 3" foam float keeps them floating (tested in that pitcher of water in the sink).

I used them multiple times yesterday, and they work perfect. The float also made them easier to find, which was a plus, because I have a habit of setting something down, and then having to go look for it after it "disappears" (in clear sight).

    All the best,
    Glenn

Yeah, I've got several pairs of Fiskar Scissors to cut braid, that are kept in my tackle bag. Probably have a set of fingernail clippers in there, somewhere, too. But, I don't bother looking for them, I just pull out my old SOG Flash II pocket knife and make short work of any line "issues".

But, yeah ... I totally understand losing something "in plain sight" ... and it looks like you've solved that problem. Good Job !!

I used to use clippers but these Cuda scissors were recommended in another thread and I bought 5 pair. Gave away 2 pair and have a backup pair. Now I love these and use them for braid, mono whatever.

I just bought two pairs of those for cutting braid. I haven't used them yet, but they came highly recommended, so I added two in with my last order. Hoping they are much better than the old Culprit Braid Blades I was using. Those worked fine for a while, but faded quickly.

My local Academy Sports had the Cuda's on clearance for $1.72. I already had one pair and loved them so much I purchased 4 more. Like you I use them for everything.

I would have purchased multiple pairs for that price, especially how good the reviews have been (haven't long-term tested them personally). I just paid $9 each at Tackle Warehouse.

Yeah awesome deal. I think I paid around $3 a pair or so. Still a bargain I think.
