    Default Crappie Spawn

I went fishing yesterday, caught 16 keepers over 10 ". When I cleaned them all but 2 still had eggs is this normal or is there a problem with the spawn. One I cleaned had a brown egg sac like they were dying. Any ideas?

Unless the egg sacs were "bulging" their bellies, I'd say they had partially spawned & are likely absorbing the remaining eggs. The dark egg sac on the one is indicative of them absorbing the eggs. They likely ran out of time (water temps too high now).

Crappie don't "dump" any leftover eggs, they'll absorb them to regain the nutritional value (survival instinct).

partially spawn which is extremely common. Absorbing the remaining eggs. Most likely will have a great spawn this year especially on Kentucky lake

I caught some male white crappie last week in 1 foot at the base of cypress trees . These were about as dark as they get.
We had a 2 foot rise above normal so they head shallow looking for a mate.
