    Default funny story

so i get at this lake with my boat and at the same time this guy gets there fishing from shore, so off we go and waving to the guy from shore. after 3 hrs i catch one crappie heading back to the launch i load the boat and this guy who was fishing from shore comes over and says he caught 8 nice crappie and wanted to know if we wanted them, i said we are too far from home and they would probably go bad. i had to ask him what he caught them on, he told me and i did not have those baits, so i used every bait we had and only one fish, i am thinking, was it the lure or was it where he was fishing that the fish were there.

ps i said to my wife on the way leaving the launch, i wonder if that guy fishing from shore is gonna catch anything. my plan failed

Sometimes locals just have the knowledge. The exact same thing happened to me and buddy years ago at Sardis. Older guy fishing at the ramp when we pulled up at daylight. We get boat in the water my friend comes down from parking the truck and we are backing off the ramp. Guy had already caught his first. I told him nice, looks like a 15 incher. He laid it on the board and said nope 16. We bid our farewells. Came back 4 hours later looking worse for wear. We caught north of 100 crappie with only 9 going over 12". He was just wrapping up his limit of 15 and all very good fish. By that time 3 others were fishing on the ramp waiting to get the old man's spot.

Probably fished where the fish are. I have several rules of fishing, but #1 is-You gotta fish where the fish are!
