I made some baby shad & crappie flukes just like that the other day & haven't had a bite on them here.
set me up a golden child jig and proceeded to pitch it , mind you this about that , I said pitch it ....
vertical and horizontal jigging was not really productive , but boy HOWDY once I realized they wanted it "crankbait" speed in the upper water column ....
KABOOM EVERY PITCH !
There exists times of the year when crappie are particularly susceptible to a pitch and drag presentation.
In this case the fish were hovering up tight in the shade under pontoon boats , EVERY pontoon boat on the dock , the best fish are often the furthest back on the outside of the dock near the rear of the pontoon boats so it requires a sidearm long cast that is somewhat tricky to master.
shooting them was and or is likely near impossible unless you want to sit down in the duckee poo on the dock ,so as stated it requires a different approach on deployment .
One thing to be certain of ,58 crappie in an hour on your lunch break is not a record and not past the speed limit in the CPH area , but to be sure it is for sure ....KABOOM !
no other fish got in my way and it was a bit higher on black crappie than white in the mixture that came in for image captures , the fish were all released and the quicky visit was a success ...
not sure if another color combo would work or not as that one stayed on my line and with me for the trip back to work , lil red riding hood sure put it on them nicely , what a dandy set up for 50 bux stem to stern ....
until I get after them again , like maybe today ....
prolly could have exceeded the chp with a proper head cover , but it just dint happen like dat this episode...
KABOOM is still the word yawl .....

Awesome job, awesome KABOOM. I've caught some of my largest on gold/chartreuse.
