Default Help outboard hydraulic steering hose advice/replacement

Hello, I have a 99 mariner 200hp 2 stroke. I lost all steering last weekend and looking at the hydraulic steering- I found a 90 degree bend on the line running from. The steering to the steering. I may attach a picture. How difficult a job is replacing or repair in these things VS just taking it to a shop. I'm concerned a shop might be 5 to 600 after calling around but they couldn't yell me fie sure. They all stated the hose hits are over 200 bucks as you have to buy a pair.. I was able to find this online store that appears to sell singles, anyone hears of this ? Has anyone replaced these things either diy or through a shop? Thanks guys

    My advise go hydraulic!
I've had the same boat since 1995, it's a 1993 and replaced cables at least once and had other work from time to time, went hydraulic and should have done it the very first time!

Any decent hydraulic shop can make what you need, probably for a fraction of the cost. These hoses are not rocket science.
I worked in a heavy equipment shop, for many years, we had all of ours made locally.

I agree with fiveeyes, a hydraulic hose shop should be able to make up new hoses and fittings. As far as how complicated they are to work on is not very hard. I had to replace the end caps on my sea star hydraulic steering a couple years ago. It's a bit tricky getting new fluid into the cylinder and bleeding the system of air properly. I did it by myself, two guys would make it easier. Plenty of videos out there to guide you through the process. If it was me I would replace both lines and probably go ahead and replace end caps with new o rings etc.

And I may have misunderstood, if you don't have hydraulic steering that would be my advice is to buy the system and be done.
