Default Ultralight casting rod for a Spin Cast (push button) reel

My brother refuses to fish crappie with a spinning reel. The dude is hard headed He is an very advanced bass fisherman so he knows how to cast and is deadly accurate. He is a dedicated “Zebco Man” when he isn’t using bass equipment :-)

Is it possible to get an ultralight casting rod of ~6.5 - 7 foot? If this isn’t available, I may be forced to buy a 7 foot spinning blank like the ones I use and build him one. Unfortunately I am getting older and tying guides isn’t easy on the eyes these days.

    Thanks in Advance,
    Danny

Need to do a search for BFS fishing. They are rod and reels designed for light lures. I could see a bass guy liking one of these setups.

Thanks Dave. That’s exactly what I’m looking for.

I actually have a Shimano Sensilight BFS rod. Mine is 7 ft with a light action, so not technically ultralight, but I like it pretty well. I've caught a handful of crappie on it, but I actually use it most frequently for Spotted bass.

    Brag,
What reel are you using with the Sensilight?
Can you cast a 1/32 jig head with a plastic bait?

I use a BFS baitcasting reel on it. I can't recall the brand name or the model of the reel, maybe Acura king or something like that? It works good and would probably cast a 1/32nd ounce bait, although it works very well with a 1/16th ounce bait

No, not a KastKing. It's the Acura HICC-50.

Looking hard at the Old18 Ascent Ultra Light Weight. More than I want to pay, buy the rods are made in America and the company was started and owned by veterans. That’s a bug deal to me.

    Anyone familiar with these?
