At first I thought the spelling police were going to cuff you! Neat pics.
a different take on scaring them. it is likely they were scared first , then scarred ....
never know what is biting them for sure , but to be sure something always is ...
one looks like a gar bite maybe ? the other a cormorant possibly ?
never sure as I rarely see em git bit . but I sometimes see the scarring in progress after I git bit
and THEN one don't gots to go and wonder why they are so terribly skittish creatures sometimes ...
tough to be a critter that everyone wants to eat for sure ....
next time you see them bolt from an area via whatever way you see it , keep in mind just how tough life is for them crappie

Ketchn thanked you for this post
Yes sir everything seems to eat Crappie starting out as a egg . Here those pesky Cormorants (Water Turkey) and White Pelicans move in each fall by the thousands . We see gashes on them from the Cormorants . Great Blue Herons work on them when they move in shallow each spring . Otters get their share too . One hot weather gets here Gar will hit them but can only eat those small enough to swallow whole . Good thing they are real prolific breeders . With all the attacks they should look like lucky the 3 legged dog .
Ketchn I think you finally answered my post on scaring crappie, THANKS danny lang

found a male fish years ago in very short water that just passed , gills bright red and looking like he should swim away , soft and just fabulous colors too ......with a very perfect big hole right behind his gills about an inch farther back that looked like one of them movie images where they shoot a fella and you can see right thru him via the hole made by the big caliber ....
great blue no doubt , but to be sure further reinforcement as to why they are so terribly jumpy ....
