Pre-soaking Viscious Hi-Vis

Today I re-spooled a reel with Viscious Hi-Vis. I’ve never done this before but have read good things about pre-soaking the line. I was surprised to see that the spool flange broke after the line soaked up water. It may have happened because of the large amount of line (2360 yards) on the spool. It convince me that monofilament actually does soak up quite a bit of water. I don’t have enough experience with Viscious to know if or how much the soak conditioned the line.

If it is soaking up water, the line has to swell some for the water to have a place to go. It would be interesting to weigh the line before and after soaking to see how much water it actually absorbs

I soaked several spools of line in a big tupper ware bowl and the water was very warm it made the line so relaxed and soft its unreal try it!

That’s been my go to line this year so far but I never knew it was good to pre-soak the line. What is the benefit of that? Just curious thanks

It's been my primary line for several years, now ... but, never got into the "soaking" deal. However, I do "stretch" it and drag it thru the grass to remove coil memory, especially after it's sat on the reel for several months. In fact, I did just that yesterday in preparation for use in the coming days.

I soak my line on the reel spool/with line conditioner.
