AND then ......ALSO chipped the last eye let ceramic on the new red rod and now it is basically ruined as well , it snips line under very slight pressure just like a pair a scissors .....

I do rod work and can say that repairing one guide is not a big undertaking and will save you from the search for its replacement. Holler if you want some help, and I might have a guide for you in my build box.

most of my better older higher end sticks have had the last replaced by me and or the rod shop at least once and some of them a few more times than that as well , I typically go back with a bronze tip instead of ceramic , them ceramics are junk as a rod tip guide in my opinion , not a single one lasted around me for any length of time ....
