Everyone has a different opinion on this, you will have to see what you like. I have the Wally Marshall Speed shooter but my favorite is the BnM Sharpshooter Six.

In the market for a couple dock shooting rods. Considering WM 7' Sharp shooter but want to check her for advice/opinions. Thanks.

SD is right on this. I personally like my ACC crappie Stix dock shooter because of the fast tip. Some guys don't care as much for them. I also have the Wally Marshall that I like. But you may hate. If you can get one in your hands before deciding. I was lucky this time around. I've been wanting a Duckett crappie slayer. I held off until I could hold one. There's nothing wrong with the rod. I just didn't like the feel as much as I thought I would. I have a few that were considered trial and error rods.lol

I have the B&M, Allstar, Wally Marshall, and the ACC Crappiestick. They are all good rods. They all shoot well. It really is personal preference and what feels best to you. It doesn't have to say Dock Shooter on it for it to be a good dock shooting rod. A $20 Shakespeare Micro lite is hard to beat for the money. Certainly doesn't hurt as bad if you smack a dock and break the tip. Whatever you choose , put a reel on it that balances it well and it will be a joy to use

Regardless of brand -- 6' to 7' in length - fast to very fast tip action - light weight - balances well with a series 20/2000 reel (IMHO)
I would use my current "jig casting" rod ... 6'6" ESP PowerLite (Mitchell 308x reel)
(*Disclaimer ... I received that ESP rod as a Field Tester freebee, but am not beholding to the company that sells them. I actually received the rod from the designer (now VP in Marketing @ Norsemen Outdoors) prior to Norsemen Outdoors marketing this line of rods)

I have two wm speed shooter and two bnm ss 6ft I use the bnm more because of the backbone. When the river is full pool for me the bnm does a better job.
If you are just starting don't put a lot of money in a rod until you get your shot where you feel confident. Good luck

W M speed shooter 7’ for me ! Have bought several and tried them ! The b&m is too stiff for my liking but like they said already everyone has their own feel ! I didn’t care for the Acc at all! I will newer ever buy another rod that I can’t/ haven’t put my hand on
Too blessed to be stressed!Specktackle thanked you for this post
I would compare dock shooting rods to golf clubs or pool cues or compound bows. There are very subject to taste. Agruss is a very adaptable dock shooter and I would take his lead on don't spend to much coin on a rod till you know what you want. I will say that the WM shooters are far from my taste. I once saw a B&M professional fire a jig in red solo cup from 50 ft. with a 12 ft rod.
