I fish out of a 14x42 Southfork a lot also and love it. I foam filled it too along with installing a 100 gauge marine aluminum Floor. Mine has the large casting deck up front, no middle seat, I installed 2 built in tackle storage units in the rear seat, installed a center console with hydraulic steering. Covered every flat spot with SeaDek Camo when done. Real quite boat now.

I found a picture of my Bud driving his boat. He's in his wheelchair, I fabricated a strap that held his chair close to the console in a chop. The chair used to hop aft in a chop without the strap.

My question would be, what happened to the foam floatation in the rear seat before the modification ?
There are lots of people out there today doing very nice work in the modification of Jon boats.
And making use of the seats for added storage is among the most popular things to do.
I have had a conversation with a guy on Youtube about this just a few days ago.
His argument is that it dosent matter unless you flip the boat upside down, i mean how stupid is that statement?
Being out on big water in a big chop is not a good use for a Jon boat, period.
Im very glad the guy in the wheelchair had enjoyable times in his, but he would have been far safer in a different type boat, and still enjoyed himself.
Again i own as good of a 14’ Jon boat as can be bought, i also own a 17’ Key West Sportsman i hardly ever use.
But there is no comparison between the two in choppy water.
And nice modifications wont change that.
