I found a regal from Japan with a shallow spool. The price went from under $70 to over $200. Kinda soured my interest. And I love my regals. I’d like to find a spool arbor for the regal 1000.

The 2 reels that I ordered last Sunday from Digitaka were delivered last Thursday morning via FedEx. They include this level of shipping in their prices.

I'm guessing just backing it with cheap line is out the question. I have a Diawa Revros that has such a shallow face it's almost irritating. That reel may cost less than your willing to pay for one.

Cheap mono backing makes every reel a shallow spool reel. LOL

When using lines with a small of a diameter as I do that theory don't fly. Many times I am using lines as small as 0.074mm. Put backing on there and the line digs in and under the backing. The largest diameter line I use is a 0.128mm. Deep spools don't work for me at all.

I run 2 shallow spool Saharas , love them , also run a few others similar, but the others in the price range probably would not have or have not outlasted the Saharas , multiple high number thousands of casts and cranking in fish sold me long ago ,,,,both still work great ….Shimano is good stuff

First lap fills the gap. 2nd lap should lay nicely.

until you hang a reel screamer and then the overlay bites right into the backing and its a bear to cast after that ....just saying

Very real point. I have a Pflueger trigger spin. No matter how tight I put the line on....every time I set the hook the line burys and that's the furthest I can cast it till I tug it a bit.

I would like to retract my idea of backing a real with line. Rofl
