Congratulations, there is a small drawback on them motors, a few buds run them and it is about impossible to tell they are running when you start them up ,not kidding about that part either ….
Stupid quiet when idling ….seen one bud try to start his several times when it was already running

The challenge in this project is that I do not want to make the boat completely unusable during the upgrade ...

I bought this boat as a brand new bare boat hull in 1998 and built it from the trailer tires up ...

The hull had only the front drop deck and a rear bench seat ...

The rear deck (with storage and battery compartment) I built custom in place ...

The remote cables run toward the Johnson from the starboard side and the current stick steer is inside the rear bench seat and wraps around the rear port corner of the transom toward the Johnson ...

This means I have to disassemble the entire rear of the boat ... but still have the boat usable (at least the trolling motor and electronics) during the upgrade (wiring, batteries, etc) ...

    Disassembly coming ...

Rickie - remember that if you need ballast for test runs during the week when everyone else is working, you can always give me a call. Anything for a buddy.

My lock to lock is not the same on my hydraulic steer as my stick steer was but you get used to it and it is the cat's pajamas. Can't tell ya the number of times we've left my buds 4 stroke running while fishing. Congratulations on the retirement and what an awesome first target to hit.
