    Default Minnows In The Boat

What are us using for your minnows in the boat while fishing.  I am presently using just a plain old plastic minnow bucket with a Mr. Bubbles running. Seem to be doing ok but I change the water pretty often.

I use the Magellan bait box from Academy Sports. It's cheaper than a Engel and just as good. I have the 30qt but wish I would have went with the smaller unit since I fish alone most of the time.

I use the set up you describe, but I insulated the bucket with some felt like insulation that came with medicine. Kept in place with foil tape. Greatly improves minnow life

I have the smaller Magellan bait cooler. I put a Bub's Daddy aerator that runs off of 20 volt Dewalt batteries.

I use a Frabill Flow Troll (I have 2 of them) and a couple of the small (1gal ?) individual minnow buckets to keep in the boat .... and I have a Marine Metal Bubble Box. BUT, I seldom use minnows, so they're just for those times when I do.

When it's hot and I have to buy minnows & transport them to the lake, I get them in a bag w/oxygen. I then temper the water in the bag with lake water so as not to "shock" the minnows from taking them out of cold water & putting them into much warmer lake water. Otherwise, if the bait shop is close to the lake, I'll put them in the Frabill and set that down in a 5gal bucket for transport, then temper them once on the lake.

    I have an Engle.
Hoping to use it for a flower pot at some time.
Use mostly hand ties and plastic since Livescope .
Kept enough trolling equipment to take grandkids
but I just single pole these days.

I use a small Engel cooler when I take minnows. I like it as it sets on the carpet very securely and doesn’t slide around.
The best I ever had though was the 11 quart Cool Bubbles bucket. Water never splashed out and the minnows couldn’t jump out like they can on the Engel coolers.
They come with an aerator pump but I also had mine where I could disconnect from battery pump and run on a 12 volt Double Bubble pump while fishing.
Wife and I each had our own buckets rigged this way front and rear.

If I’m taking minnows I use my big Engel bucket and put a scoop or 2 into my smaller Engel for the front of the boat.
