    Default Finding crappies

When you fellows are fishing open water to livescope, where’s the best places to start my search on the lake?

Also look for those bait balls. Schools of shad, usually they aren't very far.

    Start shallow and work out.
As SD said bait balls are also good to find. They won’t be far away.
Even in the dead of winter they are sometimes shallow. 3-6 foot of water.
Not that your boat will be in that depth but the fish will. Wind blown banks and sometimes on the edge of main creek or river channel.
    Time on the water brother!!!!
Once you find them the work starts on presentation, type, size and color.

This is where the console fish finder comes in by looking for crappies and bait balls riding around until you find the larger number of fish.

It's not the numbers or the size, it's the time spent on the water!

And cover . Side imaging at the console is pretty much invaluable to find cover & fish both & then using livescope to catch them go hand in hand in my opinion.

I would start with creek channels and ledges and like stated look for bait balls of shad. Humps in lakes would be good spots to check also. You are likely not to only find some crappie but white bass and hybrids also.
