Have you tried running the line through the egg sinker twice. I use that method trolling and it stays tight.

I've been using a 12 foot Edgar rod with a Lews Solo reel. Or a 12 foot Ozark with an Okuma 35 reel. Both are light weight and a pleasure to fish with all day.

I assume running the line thru twice you can move it up or down if needed also correct? I use the type pictured below a lot for extra weight above my hook and it gets tangled a lot. I like the slip sinker or bobber stop idea better and will try it.

I started by running the line thru twice but if you get hung or a good pull, it sort of bends/kinks the line. I use mono, might not be an issue with braid. With the bobber stops it doesn’t mess up the line and easily slid up or down line.

Dave can you use the string type bobber stops or do you need the rubber ones?

Rubber works best. Haven’t tried the string on this setup. Might work

Agreed. My problem with the string ones is the unraveling

I'm using an old 12' BnM BMJP w/1000 spinning reel. Main line is #25 braid w/1/4oz egg sinker, bead and barrel swivel (size 12) then a 6-12" florocarbon leader to either #2 hook or <1/8oz jig (mostly 1/32oz). My arm was getting sore as your's is...so I mounted a rod holder in the deck next to my seat that holds the pole straight up/out of the water. I troll around 'searching' with LS till I find a 'target', get lined up/set up and THEN get the rod up/out...basically sniping. Arm doesn't hurt much anymore...except from pullin'em in. Main thing is to not hold the pole all the time.

hey dickieboy that sounds pretty good there, that rod gets heavy over time, i dont care how light it is.
