I have one question? Who has fried them eggs up? We fried Speckled Trout eggs when I was a kid and Competition Eating was triggered anytime fried Trout eggs hit the table.

My Grandparents fried Crappie egg sacs on occasion, back when I was a teen (1960's). I may have done it a time or two since those days, but probably not within the last couple of decades or so.

Spawn here for the black crappie is usually around the 2nd/3rd week in March and the whites push their way back to the back of the creeks @ mid April. That said the big hens can be followed to the shallows on good sunny warm days before those dates. This is the month to get after those big crappies.

My mom used to fry the eggs when we would keep some. Dad loved them. It’s hard to keep from busting them open.

Back on topic.. big warm spell next week.
If I can get loose , I’m headed south to meet the spawn as it rises north.
Most of the lakes are full from recent rains, some rain in the forecast to hold or raise the levels a bit. The planets may be lining up.

YEP !! And when cooking them you'll get grease burns when those eggs spill out into the hot grease & "POP" (been there, done that)
