I live in the DFW and we have two brand new lakes that we are waiting to fill before the allow access to the general public. I can't wait.
The lakes I fish are Corp of Engineer impoundments. With all these flood waters coming in we're going from winter levels to flood stages. What are some of your techniques for locating crappie in fast rising water? I'm thinking fish closer towards the dam where the mudline might be.

Always had good luck in the back waters out of the current when it floods up this way. Was catching them next to a flooded picnic table

Once the lake stabilizes after flooding and starts to clear up we've had good luck fishing the newly flooded trees and brush. Usually 4 to 5 feet deep. Works well until they start dropping the lake fast.

Lake Bois D Arc located right outside of Bonham Tx and Lake Ralph Hall located right outside of Ladonia Tx. Both are completed and we are waiting for them to reach full pool before they are opened to the public. Bois D Arc should be a killer crappie lake. There are tons of timber in that lake.
I didn't. I just offered them some Slabsauce to go along with it

Big Sam Rayburn lake is 8" low today and rising. In November, it was 6 feet low. The drought around here has definitely been broken.
