I miss my Dad with me, pulling cranks and laughing about things. My Dad was the hardest working man that anybody who knew him, ever knew. When he was on my boat, all the things he needed to do weren’t worried about. That’s what I wish I could get my mind to reset to when I’m on the lake. I’ll get there.

I also miss Kutter, my 100 pound chocolate lab. He loved the boat and delighted in swallowing small bluegills and pumpkinseeds whole. Throw that head back and gone! He would very often catch the livewell door open and have his head in there past his eyes, trying to catch our catch. Name: IMG_4328.jpg

I saw this on one of those Instagram ads and had to have a shirt done.

I’d give anything to fish with my dad again. He passed away last year after a quick and courageous battle with cancer. I miss him so much. One of my biggest regrets, is being too focused on my own hobbies and “stuff” and not taking the time to fish with him more often. I wish there was a way to know you’re in the good old days before the good old days are over. Miss you and love you, dad!

Fishing by yourself really brings back memories. I think of my Father-in-Law every time I fish his favorite spots.

We usually fished out of our own boats spiderrigging but I wished my Father-in-Law and I would have shared a boat more often.

All of my fishing buddies are gone now. I'm the only one left and I miss them very much.

I miss fishing with my buddy, Colby. He passed several years ago from medical complications following organ transplant. He was always ready to go fishing and explore new water. I've still never seen anyone get as excited when a big fish hit the net as Colby would. He was just like a kid at Christmas...and then some. We fished several tournaments together and always did very well before he got sick. We always found fish and managed to coax enough into biting that we got paid way more than our entry fees. I remember laughing with Colby one freezing February day when the ice had built up so much on the line guides of our rods that they'd barely work, but neither of were willing give up. We weren't fishing for the money as much as we were proving to ourselves we could find & catch 'em in that weather. "It takes one to know one"" is what he told me. Makes me smile to think of it and brings a tear to my eye at the same time. Glad we crossed paths in life and I'm grateful for him making my time here better. Miss you Big.

My mother had 5 older brothers…..5 of them! Three were fighting in WW2 when she was born in 1943. Grandpa Stratton died when I was a baby, so I have no memories of him, but i sure do have memories of those 5 wonderful Stratton uncles I had…..Homer Laverne “the cut up”, Bill “the used car salesman”, Bick “the war hero & ladies man”, Doc “the hard working family man”, and Bob “the deacon at the church.”

They're all gone now, including my dear mother, but I’ll always remember fishing, camping, playing Rook, listening to their war & lady stories (some rated XXX) and having a cold one or two with them. They were all special to me and I miss every one of them terribly! Bill & Doc gave me my first beer on a camping trip when I was in the 9th grade. It was an Old Milwaukee. Blah! Tasted like it had a rusty nail in the bottom of the can, but heck, I was one of the men!

My father in law and I always got along great! He was a bass fisherman more than a crappie guy, but he was good at it and we always had a good time. Died of a stroke at 66 back in 2003. My father in law, Dale Wilson, was a good one!

I miss fishing with my wife. She loved to fish even more that I do and was aways ready to go with me. It's been five years and I still miss her every day. And yes, Ketchn, thinking about it makes me sad. But it is impossible not to think about it everytime I do something she loved and she is not with me to do it.

I also miss my Texas fishing buddies. The friends you leave behind is the worse thing about moving.
