In your estimation, how big was the bass? Details certainly matter whether it's sunny, windy or water clarity, bait size, etc. It's something I ask myself before I make a cast. I'm superstitious and when I have a good day I even take into account what I was wearing that day and wear the same clothes the next trip. If that day isn't very good than I can blame my wife for washing them. Just had to be her fault and not something I did.

2 foot long range , 7 to 8 is my guess , thunk it was rough fish the first 3 or 4 runs off the spool , pretty exciting to hear the reel scream and sure enough made the other fella there get all perked up too ....
started bombing the area with a crank bait shortly thereafter.
