Default Value of an auto pilot trolling motor?

When you realize a little to late that you were in such a hurry to get to the lake to sink your cinderblock stake beds that you forgot to fill up with gas? PRICELESS.

I Welded aluminum inside my powerhead trying to cross lake Wilson for a shell crackers bite after checking my son out of school years ago. 2 miles back to the ramp with thunderstorms creeping in....thank goodness for my PD 70...my only regret is I didn't know how to long line back then. I could have made lemonade out of lemons

My trolling motor has saved my bacon twice over the years. Once I forgot to get gas and the other I blew my outboard. Both times I was about 2 miles from the ramp.

I was fishing by the dam at Joe Pool Lake two years ago when my motor would not start. I used the trolling motor to get back to the marina. Don't know the exact distance but it would be over 2 miles as it was a 20 minute run at 15 mph. Made it back but I was watching the battery gage all the way. It was a 36 v hook up, don't know if it would have made it had it been 12v.

It would have EZ. Most of the MK products have the maximizer which gives more work for less battery use. I ran my 12v today for about 5 hours and never turned it off. It recharged in a little over 3 hours. Should this happen to anyone, please listen to a couple of things I’ve learned. So t run it wide open. If there’s a weak connection, you’ll find it and you don’t want to find it til you’re back at the ramp. I’ve melted wires and killed batteries that weren’t great. If you run about or a little over half you’ll make it in and not punish the system. And like grease said, put the time to good use and troll a few rods to help pass the time.

Yep, my Terrova has pulled me home a couple times. Sure gives a guy time to think. I have two group 29 batteries, it should be able to run 3-4 hours straight at a moderate speed.

Speaking of lemons, the day my power pack and stator gave up the ghost a couple years ago, I dropped a couple rods while trolling back to the ramp. Caught one keeper walleye, so I turned around and caught a limit just trolling back and forth over that spot. Wasn't such a bad afternoon after all.
