Kevin Rogers signature rod?

Yeah Kevin Roger turns the bait caster backwards so the line doesn’t get caught on the crank handle.
I fish the same way as he does but with spinning reel mounted normally.
Line down to end of rod butt and then pull out a couple feet holding that line in my left hand. I always have the line in my left hand and finesse the bait to target depth.
Works for me.
