Default Good Reel to pair with B n M SHSS 7’

My first B n’ M I am not a tall guy so I went with the 7 footer. The BnM Pro 100 is out of stock, anyone try the Pro50 from BnM

I can attest to the president. Such a nice quality reel for the price.

I have Pflueger Presidents and love them. I also have the Lew's laser lites that are nice inexpensive reels. If I had to choose between the two, I like the Presidents more.

Whatever reel you decide on getting, make sure it balances the SH 7' rod. Don't get a reel that's so light that the rod tips quickly towards the tip end when balancing the rod/reel on your outstretched finger underneath the front end of the handle. If it slowly tips towards the handle end, that's OK, but if it balances steady on your finger .... all the better.

OK ... I tested mine and I think you may have trouble getting a reel that's light enough to actually balance the rod. Even my little Zebco Omega 171 spincast reel @ only 4oz was too heavy to balance my SH Signature Series 7' rod at the front end of the handle
(*for that matter, the 4oz Zebco Omega 171 was just a hair too light to balance my SH Super Sensitive 11' rod )

All that being said ... I'd go with a 50 series reel of your choice, as the rod is just too light in weight to seriously try and balance it. At least with the rod being so light weight, even with a small reel making the outfit "handle end heavy", it won't be a strain on your wrist/forearm like it would be with a "tip end heavy" outfit.

How much is your budget. Call me strange but I like my reel to somewhat match my rod.

Not really wanting to spent over $100 on a reel to put on a less than $60 rod. I will match the rod easily, cause I fish rivers very little open waters. Which is why I went 7’ foot instead longer.

I appreciate the info about the weight of the rod and reel. I was concern about balancing it before, but I will probably like you said look into the 50 series. The President is getting a serious look at.

I have the BnM Pro 50s on the BnM TCB Leland and it pairs well. It’s a light reel and I would think it will pair with yours. I also have a few Pflueger Presidents and they are great reels as well.

For $100 you have alot of options. Some suggestions would be a Okuma Ceymar, Shimano Sedona or a Plfueger President. All of these reels would be around $60 and would be good matches for that rod.
