Casting jigs, casting jigs, I love to cast those jigs. Oh what fun it is to cast those jigs to big ol friggin slabs.

Casting to the docks, with a jig I made myself, oh what fun it is to post on crappie dot com tonight.

I'll stick to the first part - best Christmas poem:

…And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.

His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow…

When on the water, I enjoy one or none. I have peace without the grease.

Christmas is a time for happiness and joy
Christmas is a time for giving and time to share
Christmas is a time for some little girl
    and some little boy
Christmas is a time for the humble and to care
Christmas is a time to put under the tree a toy
Christmas is a time for the foal and the mare
Christmas is a time for the stallion, you, me and the little boy
Christmas is a time for the family to gather and share
Christmas is a time for the smiles and this and that,
Christmas is a time for the folks to be reminded,
it isn't about presents and a Santa clause hat .....
    ....
not the best poem , but on short notice it is what it is

Alrighty then = how about a two-fer? = Singing-Poem Folks with the challenged pitch/off-key tendencies, maybe humming would be better!

    TWO FRONT SEATS

    All I want for Christmas
Is my TWO FRONT SEATS, my TWO FRONT SEATS
    See my TWO FRONT SEATS!

    That way my partner
Can net my TWO HUGE SLABS, my TWO HUGE SLABS
    See my TWO HUGE SLABS!

    That's the only answer
To the NO FISH MISS, the NO FISH MISS
    Nice, the NO FISH MISS!

    Now we're back at weigh-in
With our FISH TO WEIGH, our FISH TO WEIGH
    See our FISH TO WEIGH!

    People take our pictures
With the CHECKS IN HAND, the CHECKS IN HAND
    Kewl, the CHECKS IN HAND!

A toddler came and asked me
What OUR SECRET WAS, what OUR SECRET WAS
    How we took 1ST PLACE?

    Took but a second
    To make the kid realize
    With his wide-open eyes

It was our TWO FRONT SEATS!!

Have a safe, MERRY CHRISTMAS Folks.
And more importantly, a Happy, NO FISH-MISS NEW YEAR!!

    THE CHRISTMAS EVE CASTS

Dad’s pole gathered, along with mine
PFD’s and tackle checked one more time

As I hitched the boat, memories they flashed
How special our Christmas Eve casts

A tradition just for us two he would say
He knew too well, when a father up and ran away

    Boat plug and spare keys?
The many times he said to me

Test the lights, everything in stow?
Son check the tires, one looks low

Spare clothes and shoes, hand warmers too
Got’em! Just bet these things he already knew

Brisk little breeze oer the lake does blow
Pop’s old jacket frayed, some lining is starting to show

The kicker now purrs, at idle with little wake
On this his favorite of all crappie lakes

Nearing the brush pile he tutored me to make
Now holding the slabs for our Christmas bake

    A great fisherman, my dad
A better sportsman & teacher, nobody had

    Just so you understand
My hero, my mentor, and in all things my Superman

His bail now flipped, as the jig it swings
A long pause,…..then silence broken as the reel goes zing

Son, not on top of the brush, just past
Bring it back slow, not too fast

These tips & pointers he’s engrained in me
I treasure the feeling of his company

The lump now grows, the one in my throat
As I glance at items here in dad’s boat

How loved these Christmas Eve casts
You see, one year ago today my dad made his last

    Holidays are not the same
And I don’t know just who to blame
We’re all left here and living on
But it’s not the same now that you’re gone.
We’ll all go on and live our life
And handle all our strains and strife.
You’ve been called home to eternal rest
For God in heaven only chooses the best.

Happy Holidays everybody. This is titled Another holiday without you. Written by me. The Redeemed Fisherman. 12/22/22

    Crappie are people too

Some are white and some are black. Some are white with a black stripe on their back.
In the boat they are different you see,
But the fillets on the plate are identical to me.
They looked different on the outside so to my surprise... they really are the same under their disguise.

    It's the night before Christmas
    The weather is bad
One hundred percent certain a white Christmas will be had
Reflecting on the year and the good fishing done
Caught walleye, crappie and gills under the hot sun
I know open water is months away
But I long to be fishing even on a day like today
The cold has the lakes all covered in thin ice
Just a few more inches would be nice
Then I could drill holes side by side
and fish in my shanty all warm inside
There's plenty of snow for a sleigh
So Rudolph be on your way
I have plenty of tackle and such
    But oh Santa....
I would like more very much...
