Default Trolling motor replacement cable / handle

I have a tracker with a minn kota edge and my trolling motor pull cable broke off last time fishing. (I didn't fall in - thankfully).

What have you replaced the standard rope with on your rig?

    Thx

I use this. Same thing Doug said. Mine has been on my boat at least 7 or 8 years. Amazon has them.

That’s it. Thanks Danny. I recently replaced my Ultrex cable with the one D mentioned.

With 60” shaft, Mega 360,Mega Live and Target Lock ,mine is so heavy I was afraid of the stock cable. Working on a deal to buy an aftermarket lift assist kit for it too. I’ll keep you posted.

I replaced mines with the G-Force handle and some steel cable I got from Home Depot. It's easy and I no longer how to worry about breaking my rope while on the lake. Amazon was the cheapest place to get the G-Force handle.

I used a 1/8th coated cable. I crimped steel nuts on the ends . Also just re used the original handle. It will probably out live the motor now.
IMO the attention to detail at Minn Kota could use some improvement.
The original rope wears quickly on the sharp edges. ( I smoothed them down so the cable slides and works better than new.

I used the one on Doug’s boat this past fall and it’s the Cats Meow!

Yep ... replaced my rope/handle, after it broke on me, with the G-force Handle.
So did one of my fishing buddies, after his rope broke.
Both were done many years ago & no regrets from either of us.

Went and picked this one up today from local store but realized this one is not recommended for use on the Minn Kota Edge. Even says it on the package.

    Back to square 1.

    Thx for the suggestion.
