How do you know the difference between males and females?
Why am I catching 3 males to every female now? I'm fishing standing timber in 20 to 25' on Toledo Bend.
I check when I clean them. The ones with lipstick used to be females but it's a little trickyer in these times

there is about an unlimited number of things that are downright hilarious that could be the answer to the question.
but the serious version would be something like this ....
the female fish are likely in numbers in another location and outnumber the males in that area .
not totally sure as I rarely knife the fish, but have seen and heard of this scenario quite often.
maybe scattered out or under baitfish on the flats and or both
sum kawl me tha outlaw ketchn whales
Maybe the females are out there chasing bait balls feeding up before the spring event.

It's not the numbers or the size, it's the time spent on the water!
What’s the water temp? It’s been unusually hot for Dec. They probably think the spawn is tomorrow so they’re on the feed . ( don’t tell them about the cold front coming thru. )
I caught some nice crappie and huge gills and red ear in 2-3 ft of water 3 days ago
