    Default Pole for livescope

What size pvc poles are you fellows using? Do they fit inside snug, the reason I am asking I went to Lowe’s looking for some pvc thick wall, so I can make mine, and none of the actually fit inside each other. So I am asking what did y’all use.

I went to the local hardware store and test fitted what they had in stock. Mine is tight enough to move easily but not have any slop. It was Schedule 40 1 inch for the inner and 1-1/4 for the outer. This picture has the handle removed. I used a ram mount and attach it to the boat in a roberts/attwood base that ram makes as an adapter for. I already had the roberts bases on the boat is why I went that route.
Here's another video to show you another perspective on building yours.

I just went to Home Depot and tested fitted what they had in stock until I found the right combination.

Mine 1-1/4” with 1" inside. Mine has a slight bow somewhere along it as it binds at couple points. I put a 1” 45 on top and used a 3/4” 45 that fit snug inside the 1” 45 for a handle that could be removed to stow it easier.

go back to Lowes and buy a painters extension pole. I bought the 6'to12' yellow extension pole for $22.
    Access Denied

There is a rivet that needs to be drill out, then both pieces will separate. Cut the outer pole to length. I cut off the handle end. This exposed the rivet holding the inner pole in the outer pole. Drill out the rivet. Cut the inner pole to length. I painted my outer pole black. Flip over the inner pole and but it back in. The thread end will be on top and stop the inner pole from sliding out the bottom. The locking collar works great to hold the pole/transducer facing where you want it. I bought a RAM pole bracket and mounted the whole thing to my Alumatrac bracket system.
The only real challenge was adding a handle to the threaded end of the inner pole. I had a chunk of aluminum and made a connector. I mounted it to the scrap piece of the outer pole I cut off. The piece that has the rubber grip on it. You could just notch the outer pole to fit, but I was worried it would break off. So I made a piece from scrap aluminum I had laying around. Thought I took pictures, but can't find them at the moment.

Edited to add photos. I went out to the garage to took some.
