    Default 12’ rods

I know nothing about this subject. I recently fished with a friend who was using them vertical fishing with live scope. He had 12’ rods and I couldn’t get a bite with mine. I used one of his. The next day my hands and shoulders knew where I had been. I’m looking for some for myself but I I need them to be light weight with a good back bone for hook setting on deep fish.

I cut the handles down on mine so it is easier to hold it away from my side. I also use 1500 Size spinning reels to help balance to rods out. My Back-Bone specials for lifting Pigs out of cover are all Wally Marshall Signature Series out to 16ft. I'm a big guy but not ashamed of choking up, 2 handing my stiffer long rods with a fish on for extra leverage. All have the handles shortened, looks like a Grizzly Jig Rod handle after cutting down. B&M BGJP's in 12ft & 14ft I also use with great success, the handles are cut to a Tennessee Handle on them. They are Lighter but also lighter action with a much slower action, curves across the whole blank. Using micro jigs & 8 pound Power Pro 8 Slick the give a BGJP has keeps me from pulling the hooks.

I love my B&M Sam Heaton Super Sensitive. It is my go to rod. I also have an ACC Crappie Stix rod, but prefer the B&M unless I’m fishing heavy cover.

I’ve got a 10 ft Outlaw rod, light but will swing a fish up a 20 ft cliff.

I have some BnM Sam's Supersensitive, that I like, but..... I promised the lady at BnM that in the future I would use a net or grab the line IF she would warranty the last two.... She informed me they are NOT for swinging in fish. Dutch you are welcome to try mine. I hear good things on the Todd Huckabee rods.

Sam Heaton is all I use. Tey may not have much of a back bone but at least at the end of the day you arms and shoulders don't feel like they are going to fall off.

I wish the long rods had a kit of some kind on the buttcap that you could fill with split shot to balance them because that would make a huge difference in a days time being able to either balance or make a slight bit tip light. I think i'll see what i can come up with to try on my 13 foot acc crappie stix.

I started LS jig flippin with a 10' rod, but it just didn't seem to be what I wanted it to be. Got a 12' Diamond Series BnM rod and it seemed lighter and a little more effective at flippin double jig rigs. I coulda just taken the line counter reels off one of my 14' Capps/Coleman rods and put a spinning reel on it, but doubt I could handle the weight of said outfit for a whole day of fishing that way. I kinda wish, now, that I'd gotten a 12' ESP PowerJig rod instead of the 9'er I have ... but, I'm liking the Diamond Series rods (8' & 12') that I used this year, and plan on getting even more use out of them next year.

These fish were lifted out with the 12' Diamond Series (no net in the boat I was in at the time) ....

I like my 12 ft BnM Brushbuster a lot. It's stout and light. And I abuse it and push jigs off brush. No probs
